This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you to the stunning Refuge du Saut along the Route des Avals. Starting at the parking area, you will embark on a 12.4-kilometer journey with an elevation gain of 419 meters, so be prepared for a challenging trek.
As you make your way along the trail, you will encounter several points of interest. About halfway into your hike, at a distance of 4.42 kilometers from the start, you will come across the beautiful Lac des Fées. This picturesque lake is a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings.
Continuing on, at around 6.15 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Refuge du Saut, an alpine hut where you can rest and recharge before heading back. This cozy refuge offers a great place to refuel and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Along the trail, you will also come across the Maison de la Réserve, a tourist information center at 0.63 kilometers from the start, and the Lac de Tuéda at 0.5 kilometers from the start. These points of interest add to the charm of the hike and provide opportunities to learn more about the area.
