The Sentier des Lacs des Aires trail is located in the beautiful Gavarnie-Gèdre region. This out-and-back route spans approximately 5.016 kilometers with an elevation gain of 36.0 meters, making it a moderate difficulty hike.
As you start your journey, you will come across a convenient parking area. Along the trail, you will encounter various water sources, some closer to the start like at 0.64 kilometers, and others further away such as at 2.29 kilometers. It’s recommended to bring an adequate water supply, especially on warmer days.
About 1.35 kilometers into the hike, you will find another water source, providing a refreshing break. Further along the trail at 2.18 kilometers, you will find more water sources to replenish your supplies.
At 2.51 kilometers, you will come across another water source. It's always a good idea to stay hydrated during your hike, so fill up your water bottles here if needed.
As you continue your trek, at 0.34 kilometers in, you will find the Cabane de la Vierge wilderness hut. This could be a great spot to rest and take in the surrounding views.
