This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Cascade du Grand Rec in the picturesque area. The trail covers a distance of 7.055 kilometers with an elevation gain of 360 meters, making it perfect for hikers looking for a moderate to difficult trek.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area just 0.16 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle and prepare for the adventure ahead. Around 1.13 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter the ruins of Vestiges aval du Castellas, offering a glimpse into the historic past of the region.
Continuing along the trail, at 2.22 kilometers, you will find the Roque Longue peak, a perfect spot to take in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the path, at 3.53 kilometers, you will reach the enchanting Cascade du Grand Rec waterfall, a must-see highlight of the hike.
For those interested in natural beauty, at the same location as the waterfall, you will also find a water source. This is a great opportunity to rest and replenish your water supply before heading back.
As you make your way back, be sure to visit the Le Castelas peak at 1.75 kilometers from the start and the Vestiges amont du Castellas ruins at 1.13 kilometers. Additionally, a viewpoint awaits you at 1.13 kilometers, offering spectacular views of the surroundings.
