This challenging 8.574-kilometer hiking route on the D 180 offers breathtaking views and diverse points of interest along the way.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will pass by the Hameau de Douch, where you can learn about the Itinéraires de Randonnée Tours dans la Montagne du Haut-Languedoc. As you continue, you'll reach the Tête de Mouflon artwork and a wayside cross before arriving at the Réserve Nationale de Chasse et de Faune Sauvage du Caroux-Espinouse.
Midway through the hike, you'll encounter the Col de l'Ourtigas, offering a great spot to take in the surrounding natural beauty. As you approach the end of the trail, don't miss the viewpoint at Col de l'Ourtigas for stunning panoramic views.
Along the way, you'll find drinking water stations to refill your bottle and benches to take a rest. The trail also passes by the Refuge Marcel Cèbe alpine hut, providing a cozy spot for a break.
This out-and-back route is considered difficult due to its 236-meter elevation gain and length, so make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
