This hiking route takes you through the stunning area of Camino Cotatuero. With a total distance of 19.204 kilometers and an elevation gain of 2372.0 meters, this extremely difficult trail is not for the faint of heart.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area at the beginning of the trail. It's essential to park your vehicle here before embarking on the hike. As you continue, about 6 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Clavijas de Cotatuero, a via ferrata that offers a thrilling challenge for those looking to test their skills.
Further along the trail, at around the 9.6-kilometer mark, you'll encounter a beautiful waterfall, a perfect spot to rest and take in the natural beauty that surrounds you. As you approach the halfway point, at 4.82 kilometers, you'll reach the peak of a stunning natural formation known as Punta Gallinero.
Along the way, there are various points of interest such as Casa de Oliván, a tourist information center located 0.78 kilometers from the start, and a shelter at the 2.04-kilometer mark, providing a place to rest and refuel.
It's important to note that the trail is an out-and-back route, so you will retrace your steps on the way back. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before setting out. This challenging hike will test your endurance and reward you with breathtaking views of the Camino Cotatuero area.
