This extremely difficult hiking route will take you through the stunning landscapes of Piton Rouge. The 16.648 kilometers long trail features an elevation gain of 901.0 meters, promising a challenging yet rewarding trek.
As you start your journey at the trailhead, you'll come across several points of interest along the way. Approximately 0.52 kilometers from the start, you'll find a beautiful basin and cascade where you can take a break and enjoy the natural beauty. Further along, at about 3.9 kilometers from the start, you'll encounter La Glacière, a cave entrance and archaeological site known for its historical significance.
Midway through the hike, around 8.32 kilometers from the start, you'll reach Piton Rouge, a notable peak offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. As you continue on, you'll pass by various shelters, picnic sites, and viewpoints, providing opportunities to rest and take in the scenery.
Towards the end of the trail, at approximately 8.3 kilometers from the start, you'll find landmarks like Place du bicentenaire de la révolte des esclaves de Saint-Leu and Croix blanche, adding cultural enrichment to your hiking experience.
