Welcome to the hiking route to Coran of Portmark! This extremely difficult 13.145 km out-and-back trail offers breathtaking views and a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll pass by the old bridge, a historic attraction just 0.09 km into the hike. Further along, at about 3.07 km from the start, you'll come across ruins including a chimney, Woodhead School, and houses. These remnants provide a glimpse into the area's historical significance.
As you continue, you'll encounter the Green Well of Scotland at 0.12 km from the trail, and the Holm Of Daltallochan Stone Circle at 0.33 km away. These archaeological sites add a mysterious aura to the surroundings.
The trail ascends towards Coran of Portmark, where you'll reach the peak at around 6.57 km from the start. The panoramic views from the peak make the challenging ascent worth it.
Throughout the hike, make sure to stay hydrated and pack enough water and snacks. With an elevation gain of 396 meters, this route requires good physical condition and proper gear.
