This difficult 10.042-kilometer out-and-back hiking route in the Las Neous area offers stunning natural beauty and a challenging trek for experienced hikers.
Starting from the parking area at the beginning of the trail, hikers will pass by the Parc National information point and follow the trail towards Lac de Suyen, a scenic lake located 0.85 kilometers from the start.
Continuing on, at the 1.53-kilometer mark, you'll come across a natural water source. Make sure to fill up your water bottles here as the next water point is 5 kilometers away.
As you trek further, at the 3.4-kilometer mark, you'll encounter the Toue de Labassa shelter, a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
The highest point of the hike is at an alpine hut, Refuge du Balaïtous-Ledormeur, located 4.11 kilometers from the start. This is a good turnaround point for those seeking a shorter hike.
On the way back, at the 5-kilometer mark, there are several water sources where you can refill your bottles before finishing the trek back to the starting point.
Given the length of the hike and the 604 meters of elevation gain, it is important to be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, proper hiking gear, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this journey.
