This hiking route will take you through a beautiful area with stunning views and challenging terrain. The trail is an out-and-back type, leading you to the breathtaking Pic Saillant.
Starting off, you will come across a convenient parking area at the beginning of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here before embarking on your journey. As you venture further, you will encounter a bicycle parking spot just 0.02 kilometers from the start, providing a great spot to securely lock up your bike.
Along the way, at about 0.43 kilometers from the start, you will find a Table d'orientation, a viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This is a perfect place to take a break, catch your breath, and soak in the beauty of the area.
Continuing on, at approximately 5.23 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Cabane du Pic du Gar, a wilderness hut and shelter for hikers. This is a great spot to rest, have a snack, and take in the serene surroundings before continuing your journey.
As you near the midpoint of the hike, at around 5.89 kilometers from the start, you will come across a saddle, followed by another one at 2.28 kilometers further along the trail called Col du Hô. These natural formations offer unique viewpoints and a chance to rest before reaching your final destination.
Finally, after a challenging trek, you will reach the highlight of the hike - Pic Saillant. This peak, located about 5.99 kilometers from the start, offers majestic views of the area and a sense of accomplishment for completing the hike.
With a total distance of 11.989 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1141 meters, this hike is considered difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate gear for the journey. Additionally, always check the weather forecast before heading out to ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience.
