This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Rifugio Forte dei Marmi. The trail is 3.8 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 304 meters, making it a moderately difficult hike that will take approximately 1 hour and 38 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area located at the beginning of the trail, you will first come across a drinking water source at 0.48 kilometers into the hike, where you can refill your water bottle. As you continue on, at 0.69 kilometers, you will pass by the historic wayside shrine of Antro di Budden, adding a cultural touch to your journey.
Around the 1.07 kilometer mark, you will reach Baita degli Scoiattoli, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the stunning views. Further along the trail, at 1.68 kilometers, you will find the Sorgente della Grotta, another drinking water source for you to replenish your supplies.
For those seeking a more adventurous experience, there are several via ferrata routes nearby, such as Ferrata del Procinto and its variant Cintura del Procinto. These routes offer a thrilling challenge for experienced climbers.
As you approach the halfway point of the hike, at 1.7 kilometers, you will find a shelter where you can rest and have a snack before continuing on your journey. Along the way, you will also come across informative signboards and viewpoints where you can take in the breathtaking scenery.
The highlight of the trail is Monte Procinto, a peak located at 1.41 kilometers from the trail. Although not directly on the trail, it offers a rewarding side trip for those looking for a more strenuous climb.
