This hike takes you through the breathtaking Monte Porcospino area, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. With a distance of 24.83 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1202 meters, this route is classified as extremely difficult, perfect for experienced hikers looking for a demanding adventure.
Starting at the parking area near the trailhead, you will soon come across the Mulino Giorginaro, an attraction located just 0.23 kilometers from the start. As you continue your journey, you'll pass by a shelter around the 7.41-kilometer mark, providing a potential rest stop along the way.
Around the halfway point of the hike, at approximately 12.42 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the peak of Monte Porcospino, offering sweeping panoramic views as a reward for your efforts. Further along the trail, you'll encounter a fountain and another peak, Pizzo Chiapparo, before reaching the historic Castello di Novara di Sicilia and the restaurant Il castello, located near each other but slightly off the main trail.
As you make your way back, make sure to stop by the spring known as pietra triangolare, and the peak Rocca di Dante, both around 5.34 and 5.73 kilometers from the start respectively. Additionally, you'll pass by the ruins of Cuburro and a scenic viewpoint just before reaching the Buemi cafe, located at the 0.01-kilometer mark from the start.
