This hiking route takes you through the rugged terrain of Monte Pietra Grossa, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. The route is a circular path, spanning a total distance of approximately 29.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 917 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will take around 9 hours to complete.
As you begin your journey, you will come across a parking area to leave your vehicle before setting off on the trail. As you trek through the first leg of the hike, you will pass by the ruins of an ancient site at around 10.5 kilometers from the start, adding a touch of history to your adventure.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 9.83 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the peak of Ariacolla, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail, at 12.75 kilometers from the start, you will reach the majestic peak of Colle del Re, providing a perfect spot to rest and enjoy the scenery.
Continuing on, you will come across Monte Pietra Grossa, the namesake peak of the route, at around 13.94 kilometers from the start. This peak offers a challenging ascent and breathtaking views from the top. Finally, as you make your way back to the starting point, you will reach the peak of Pizzo Tribodo at approximately 8.46 kilometers from the start.
