This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Tête du Colonney, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. The total distance of the hike is 10.546 kilometers, with an elevation gain of 1242 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting from the parking area at the trailhead, located at the beginning of the route, you will pass by a bench where you can take a moment to rest before continuing on your journey. As you hike along the trail, you will come across a spring where you can refill your water bottles, ensuring you stay hydrated throughout the hike. Approximately 1.15 kilometers from the start, you will find a waterfall, adding to the scenic beauty of the area.
One of the noteworthy points along the route is the Refuge de Véran, an alpine hut located 1.71 kilometers from the trail. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy some refreshments before continuing towards Tête du Colonney. The Tête du Colonney peak is the highlight of the hike, located 5.27 kilometers from the start. The breathtaking views from the peak make the challenging climb worth it.
As you make your way back along the out-and-back route, be sure to stop by the Alpage de Véran, a local attraction 1.66 kilometers from the trail. This spot offers a unique glimpse into the local culture and history of the area.
