This hiking route will take you to the Sonnspitze peak, located in a beautiful area with stunning mountain views. The trail is an out-and-back type route, covering a distance of approximately 10.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 722 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take around 4 hours to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area right at the beginning of the trail. About 2 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Forsthofalm restaurant, a great spot to grab a meal and take in the scenic views. Further along the trail, at around 2 kilometers from the start, you will find the Lindlingalm alpine hut, offering accommodation and dining options.
As you continue hiking, you may come across some informative signposts and benches for resting. Around the midway point of the hike, you will encounter the Hochseilgarten, a climbing facility for adventure enthusiasts. Closer to the peak, at around 5.3 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Sonnspitze summit, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area. Additionally, the Henlabjoch saddle is around 4.3 kilometers from the start, providing a unique vantage point.
For facilities along the trail, there are picnic sites and several benches for hikers to take a break and enjoy the scenery. It is advisable to bring an ample water supply, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging hike.
