This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you to the breathtaking Pic de Peyre in a beautiful natural area. The trail covers a distance of 8.92 kilometers with an elevation gain of 514 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding hike.
As you start your journey, you'll come across a parking area at the beginning of the trail. Around 1.67 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Fontaine de la Hèbe, a serene spring where you can take a refreshing break. A little further at 1.92 kilometers, you'll reach the Fontaine d'Anisaous, another lovely spring along the route.
Continuing on, at around 4.11 kilometers, you'll encounter the Col de Liar, a noteworthy saddle that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Midway through the hike, at 4.46 kilometers, you'll reach the majestic peak of Pic de Peyre, the ultimate destination of the trail.
Near the peak, at only 6.07 meters away, you can visit the historic wayside cross that adds a cultural touch to your hike. Keep in mind to stay hydrated and carry enough water, especially as you ascend towards the peak.
As you make your way back, you can also consider stopping by the L'Auberge du Mont de Gez, a restaurant located 1.8 kilometers from the starting point, to refuel and relax after a challenging hike.
