Welcome to the Chemin des Charbonniers hiking route! This beautiful trail offers a mix of natural beauty and historic landmarks for you to explore.
At the beginning of the trail, you will find a convenient parking area where you can leave your vehicle before starting your adventure. Make sure to bring plenty of water with you, as staying hydrated is essential on this 4.2-kilometer hike with an elevation gain of 246 meters.
As you progress along the trail, you will come across a fountain where you can take a moment to rest and refresh yourself. Further along, there are several viewpoints that offer stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. One of the highlights of the hike is the Ermitage Saint-Jean d’Aureillan, a historic ruin located 2.1 kilometers from the start of the trail.
Along the way, you will also encounter the Calvaire wayside crosses, the Statue de la Vierge artwork, and several benches where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. For those interested in caves, there are two cave entrances to explore: the Grotte de Liausson and the Entrée de caverne, located at 1.14 and 1.12 kilometers from the start, respectively.
Before starting your hike, be sure to check the weather forecast and wear appropriate footwear. The trail is rated as easy, but be prepared for some inclines due to the elevation gain. It is recommended to allocate approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes for the hike.
