This extremely difficult 14.465-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through breathtaking alpine landscapes near Zireiner See. The trail includes an elevation gain of 1344 meters and is expected to take about 6 hours and 42 minutes to complete.
Starting at the Bayreuterhütte parking area, you will first encounter the wayside shrine Herrgottstein at 0.85 kilometers into the hike. Further along the trail at 1.08 kilometers, you will come across an information point. As you continue, you will reach an alpine hut called Sonnwendjochhaus at 6.06 kilometers, where you can take a break and enjoy the stunning views.
Along the way, you will also find several peaks such as Roßkogel at 6.47 kilometers, Pletzachkogel at 3.41 kilometers, and other viewpoints offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding area. Benches and information points are strategically placed throughout the trail for resting and learning about the region.
The hike will lead you to the picturesque Zireiner See, located at 7.23 kilometers, before heading back towards the starting point. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging adventure.
