This challenging circular hiking route will take you through the stunning area of El Peñotillo. The trail covers a distance of 5.287 kilometers with an elevation gain of 715 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek.
Starting off at the parking area, you will begin your journey towards the El Peñotillo peak. Along the way, you will come across the Embalse del Pueblo de Navacerrada, a beautiful water reservoir just 0.17 kilometers from the start. Further ahead at 2.08 kilometers, you will reach a saddle offering breathtaking views of the surroundings.
As you continue on, at 2.57 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter the peak of El Peñotillo itself, a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the panoramic vistas. Additionally, there are informative points of interest scattered along the trail, providing insights into the natural surroundings and the history of the area.
At 0.08 kilometers from the start, you will find the Fuente de la Casa de Guías spring, a refreshing spot to refill your water bottle. Another water source, Fuente de La Barranca, is located at 0.17 kilometers from the beginning of the trail, ensuring you stay hydrated throughout your hike.
Towards the end of the route, at 2.48 kilometers, you will pass by the Vivac del Peñotillo shelter, offering a cozy rest area before completing your journey back to the starting point.
