This challenging hiking route in the area of El Peñotillo offers breathtaking views and diverse natural landscapes. The circular route spans approximately 5.3 kilometers with an elevation gain of 715 meters, taking around 3 hours to complete.
Starting at the parking area near Embalse del Pueblo de Navacerrada, hikers will begin their journey with a short walk to the trailhead. Along the way, be sure to visit Fuente de la Casa de Guías, a picturesque spring located about 80 meters from the trail, perfect for refilling your water bottles.
As you continue on the trail, you will reach El Peñotillo, a stunning peak with panoramic views of the surrounding area. This point is approximately 2.6 kilometers from the start and offers a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
Further along the route, you will encounter two saddles, providing unique vantage points and opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Several information points are also scattered along the trail, offering insights into the local flora, fauna, and geography.
Before heading back, make sure to stop by Fuente de La Barranca, another refreshing spring located about 170 meters from the trail, perfect for rehydrating before the descent.
