Welcome to the Ofenwald - Saalbach-Hinterglemm hiking route! This 20.212-kilometer trail is extremely difficult, with an elevation gain of 994 meters, promising a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.

You'll start your journey at the trailhead where you can find parking at P2. As you begin, you'll pass by a wayside shrine at 0.42 kilometers from the start, adding a touch of history to your hike. Along the way, you'll encounter several shelters for rest or picnics, such as Shelter 1 at 0.68 kilometers and Shelter 2 at 2.55 kilometers from the start.

Around 2.08 kilometers from the start, you'll find a shelter conveniently located right on the trail. This will be a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surrounding nature. Further ahead at 2.58 kilometers, there is a water source for refilling your bottles.

As you continue, you'll reach the peak of Gasteg at 8.8 kilometers from the start, offering stunning panoramic views as a reward for your uphill climb. Along the way back, you'll come across multiple water sources for hydration, located at around 10.11 kilometers from the start.

For sustenance, you can visit the Liebe Heimat restaurant at the trailhead or the Restaurant Tiroler Buam a bit further away. These spots offer a perfect opportunity to refuel before or after your challenging hike.

Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper gear for this demanding trail. Checking the weather forecast before setting off is also crucial. Be prepared for a long and strenuous hike, but the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment at the end will make it all worth it.
