This hiking route takes you through the breathtaking Hat Mountain Trail in the Elaho/Garibaldi area. With a total distance of 11.926 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1311 meters, this trail is considered extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting at the parking area, you will make your way through the lush forests and stunning landscape of the area. Along the trail, you will come across various points of interest. At the beginning of the hike, you will pass by a water source, perfect for refilling your water bottles. Further along, at around 5.82 kilometers from the start, you will reach Hat Pass, a scenic saddle with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
As you continue your journey, approximately 5.96 kilometers from the start, you will come across another water source for your convenience. Additionally, at 1.02 kilometers from the start, you can take a short detour to Sleepless Night Viewpoint for a stunning vista (172.657 meters from the trail).
It is important to come prepared for this challenging hike. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, proper hiking gear, and check the weather forecast before heading out. The trail is an out-and-back route, so you will retrace your steps on the way back.
