This challenging hiking route will take you to Pico Hato, a prominent peak in the area. The trail is an out-and-back type, covering a total distance of 8.082 kilometers with an elevation gain of 601 meters. The estimated duration for the hike is 3 hours and 22 minutes.
Starting at the trailhead, you will come across a picnic site just 25 meters away, perfect for a quick break before starting your ascent. As you continue on the trail, you will pass by a bicycle parking area and a parking lot, making it convenient for hikers to park their vehicles before embarking on the journey.
Around the 4-kilometer mark, you will reach the highlight of the hike, Pico Hato, a majestic peak offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Take your time to soak in the scenery before heading back.
Along the way, you will also encounter Collado Puerto de Horcadas, a saddle point with stunning vistas, and a spring for a refreshing pit stop. Keep an eye out for other peaks in the distance as you traverse the terrain.
Although some of the points of interest are slightly off the trail, they are worth the extra distance for the unique experiences they offer. Make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before setting out on this challenging adventure.
