This extremely difficult hiking route on the D 53 - D 53 trail covers a distance of 15.494 kilometers with an elevation gain of 174.0 meters. The trail is an out-and-back type, starting at the parking area where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this challenging journey.
As you begin your hike, you will come across the historic wayside cross known as "La Croix de Mounis" around the starting point. This is a great spot to take in some local history and culture. Further along the trail, at about 5.05 kilometers from the start, you will find a natural spring where you can refill your water bottles and take a well-deserved break.
Continuing on, at approximately 7.75 kilometers from the start, another natural spring can be found, providing another opportunity to rest and rehydrate. There are also benches situated at around 4.16 kilometers from the start, offering hikers a place to rest and enjoy the surrounding scenery.
For those who enjoy panoramic views, a viewpoint called "Les Suques" can be visited, although it is located about 3.69 kilometers from the trail and may require a detour. Additionally, there are saddles such as "Col de la Croix de Mounis" and "Col de Ginestet" along the route, providing unique natural features to explore.
