This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding D 53 - D 53. The trail spans a distance of 15.494 kilometers with an elevation gain of 174.0 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will challenge even experienced hikers.
Along the way, you will encounter several points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, you will find La Croix de Mounis, a historic wayside cross that is definitely worth a visit. Further along, you will come across Col de la Croix de Mounis, a natural saddle offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
As you continue your journey, you will pass by Col de Ginestet, another scenic saddle that provides a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery. Keep an eye out for the various springs located along the trail, such as the ones at 5.98 kilometers and 7.75 kilometers from the start, where you can refill your water supply.
For those looking to rest, there are benches strategically placed at 4.16 kilometers and another one at the same distance, offering a perfect place to sit and take in the beauty of the area.
It's important to note that the trail also passes by Les Suques, a natural peak, and Col du Bouisset, another saddle, although these are slightly off the main trail.
As this is an out-and-back route, plan your hike accordingly and make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Additionally, always check the weather forecast before embarking on your journey to ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience.
