This challenging hiking route takes you through the stunning landscape of Lago Terrasole. The 9.9-kilometer trail offers a total elevation gain of 645 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding journey. It is recommended to allocate around 3 hours and 54 minutes to complete the hike, so be prepared for a long day of adventure.
As you start your hike, you will come across the parking area at the trailhead, where you can safely leave your vehicle before setting off. Along the way, you will encounter various points of interest that add to the experience. Approximately 3.32 kilometers into the hike, you will find a drinking water station to refill your water bottles and stay hydrated.
Further along the trail, at the 3.41-kilometer mark, you will reach Baita 2000, a restaurant where you can take a break, grab a bite to eat, and soak in the panoramic views. Capanna Niculin, another restaurant, is located at the 3.92-kilometer point, offering hikers a chance to rest and refuel before continuing on their journey.
One of the highlights of the hike is the Galleria di Napoleone, a cave entrance located at the beginning of the trail. This natural wonder is worth exploring, just 60.30 meters from the start of the hike.
Finally, the endpoint of the route leads you to the picturesque Lago Terrasole, located approximately 4.95 kilometers from the starting point. Here, you can relax by the water's edge, take in the peaceful surroundings, and enjoy a well-deserved rest before turning back.
