Located in the stunning region of Les Tables du Montcalm, this hiking route offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. With a distance of 16.45 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1899 meters, this trail is classified as extremely difficult, so be prepared for a strenuous trek.

Starting at the Aire de l'Artigue departure point, you will pass by various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will come across a BBQ area and informational points to help guide you on your journey. Approximately 0.35 kilometers into the hike, you will reach a water point, followed by the picturesque Étang du Pinet at 4.59 kilometers.

As you continue onwards, you will encounter the Refuge du Pinet at 4.57 kilometers, providing a comfortable rest stop for weary travelers. Further along the trail, you will find the Étang du Montcalm at 6.38 kilometers, offering a serene spot to relax and take in the surroundings.

Midway through the hike, you will reach the majestic Pic du Montcalm at 8.23 kilometers, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the area. At 7.87 kilometers, the Col de Riufret serves as a notable landmark along the path.

For those seeking overnight accommodations, Bivouac sites can be found at various points along the route, such as Bivouac 1 petite tente sur rochers at 7.19 kilometers and a Bivouac at 5.97 kilometers.

As you near the end of the trail, you will pass by the Col de la Coumette at 7.6 kilometers, offering a beautiful vantage point of the surrounding landscape. Finally, at 8.22 kilometers, you will reach another peak, known as Montcalm, before turning back towards the starting point.
