This extremely difficult 12.269-kilometer out-and-back hiking route in the Bearn region is not for the faint of heart. With an elevation gain of 1146 meters, hikers can expect a challenging but rewarding journey.
Starting from the Aire de Stationnement de Lamary parking area, hikers will make their way towards Cabane de Lamary, located 0.48 kilometers from the start. This wilderness hut serves as a great pit stop for hikers to rest and take in the surrounding beauty.
As you continue on the trail, you will encounter the Abri du Pla d'Escoueste shelter at 1.61 kilometers from the starting point, providing a nice spot to take a break and enjoy the views.
Midway through the hike, at around 5.22 kilometers from the start, you'll find Hiru Erregeen Mahaia / Mesa de los Tres Reyes, a peak that offers stunning panoramic views of the area.
For those interested in natural landmarks, the trail also passes by Budogia peak at 5.8 kilometers from the start, offering a great photo opportunity.
At around 4.3 kilometers from the start, hikers will reach Esqueste, a saddle point that provides a unique vantage point of the surrounding terrain.
