Located in the beautiful region of Les Trois-Bassins, the Sentier du Grand Bénare offers a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience. With a total distance of 8.299 kilometers and an elevation gain of 701 meters, this route is classified as difficult and is suitable for experienced hikers.

As you start your journey, you will come across several points of interest along the trail. At the beginning of the hike, you will find convenient parking spaces to leave your vehicle before embarking on the adventure. Make sure to carry an ample water supply and check the weather forecast before setting out.

Around the 3.98 kilometer mark, there is a water feature where you can replenish your water bottles. As you continue onwards, you will encounter more water sources at the 4.13 and 4.15 kilometer points, providing a refreshing break amidst the challenging terrain.

Approximately 4 kilometers into the hike, you will find La Glacière, a notable cave entrance and archaeological site. This unique attraction adds a touch of intrigue to your outdoor exploration. Additionally, a shelter and picnic site at the 0.15 kilometer mark offer opportunities to rest and refuel before pushing forward.

A viewpoint at the 4.04 kilometer point promises breathtaking sights of the surrounding landscape, rewarding your efforts with stunning panoramas. Further ahead, at the 3.86 kilometer mark, you will find Piton de la Glacière, a peak that showcases the natural beauty of the area.
