This hiking route is located in a beautiful area with stunning natural landscapes. The trail is an out-and-back type, starting at a parking area. As you begin your hike, you will come across La Barrerilla, a saddle located 2.7 kilometers from the start. Further along the trail, at 1.5 kilometers from the beginning, you will find the memorial Piedra El Cojo.
Along the way, there are several cave entrances like Cuevallana and Las Hayas, which are located at 2.2 and 2.86 kilometers from the start, respectively. These caves offer a unique opportunity to explore the natural formations in the area. You will also pass by drinking water points such as Los Nudos at 2.6 kilometers from the start.
As you continue hiking, you will reach Iturrigorri cave entrance at 2.69 kilometers and the alpine hut Goizale Aterpea at 3.86 kilometers from the beginning. The trail also passes by Fuentehorno cave entrance at 3.86 kilometers and Fontana drinking water point at the start.
Towards the end of the route, at 3.2 kilometers from the start, you will encounter Hayal de Ponata cave entrance and SI.44 historical entrance of the Hayal de la Ponata system at 3.46 kilometers. The destination for this hike is the Goizale Aterpea alpine hut.
This hike covers a distance of 7.724 kilometers with an elevation gain of 554.0 meters, making it a difficult trail suitable for experienced hikers.
