This challenging 8.95-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the stunning Vercors area, known for its beautiful landscapes and diverse flora and fauna.
Starting at the parking area, you will quickly come across the Combeau information point, providing you with valuable insights into the area's history and natural surroundings. Continuing along the trail, you will reach the memorial site at a distance of 0.05 kilometers, honoring the region's past.
As you venture further into the hike, you will encounter the Source de Grailler spring at 2.29 kilometers from the start, offering a refreshing stop to replenish your water supply. The trail then leads to the Pas de la Coche saddle point at 2.66 kilometers, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Midway through the hike at 4.17 kilometers, you will reach the 1er de Borie de Chamousset shelter, a perfect spot to rest and enjoy a meal while taking in the picturesque scenery. Additionally, at 4.25 kilometers, there is a water point for refilling your bottles and staying hydrated.
Further along the trail, you will come across the Bergerie de Combau information point at 1.38 kilometers from the start, offering more details about the area's cultural and natural heritage. Additionally, at 0.8 kilometers, you will find another informational point providing insights into the Combau region.
Towards the end of the hike, approximately 3.52 kilometers from the start, you will have the opportunity to explore a cave entrance, offering a unique and adventurous experience. Finally, at 2.95 kilometers, there is another cave entrance along the trail, showcasing the diverse geological formations of the Vercors area.
With an elevation gain of 384 meters, this hike is considered difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear.
