This extremely difficult hiking route will take you to the stunning Dôme de Cayalatte, covering a distance of 14.017 kilometers with an elevation gain of 815 meters. The duration of the hike is approximately 5 hours and 17 minutes.
The trail starts in a picturesque area with various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the hike, you will come across a campsite called Aire Naturelle de Camping, which is just 0.01 kilometers from the start. As you progress, you will encounter a parking area at 0.0 kilometers from the start, followed by the Alpine Hut Gîte d'Etape de Lhers at 0.07 kilometers and Lhers Gîte at 0.19 kilometers.
Around the 2-kilometer mark, you will reach the intermittent fountain called Fontaine Intermittente. Continuing on, you will come across the Col de Barrancq at 3.79 kilometers, followed by information points along the trail providing insights on the surroundings.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 6.34 kilometers, you will find the Col des Pises, a beautiful natural saddle. Further along the trail, you will reach the scenic Col de la Nabe at 5.11 kilometers.
Towards the end of the route, you will arrive at the highlight of the hike, the Dôme de Cayalatte peak at 7.01 kilometers from the start. This peak offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area and is a perfect spot to rest before heading back along the same trail.
