This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route covers a distance of 22.583 kilometers with an elevation gain of 968 meters, making it a challenging but rewarding trek. The route takes approximately 7 hours and 38 minutes to complete, so be prepared for a long day of hiking.
Starting at the parking area at the trailhead, you will embark on a journey through breathtaking scenery in the Pischina Urtaddala area. As you make your way along the trail, you will encounter several points of interest that add to the allure of the hike.
About 5.81 kilometers into the hike, you will find the Passo di Genna Silana, a majestic saddle that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail at 10.03 kilometers, you will come across the Coile Pitt'e Rutta shelter, a great spot to rest and refuel.
Midway through the hike at around 11.29 kilometers, you will reach the Pischina Urtaddala water feature, providing a refreshing stop along the way. As you continue on, you will also pass by the Grotta Luigi Donini cave entrance at 9.96 kilometers, adding an adventurous touch to the trek.
Towards the end of the route, at approximately 5.5 kilometers from the start, you will find the Fonte Esilai drinking water source, perfect for quenching your thirst before heading back.
