This hike to Knappenkopf is an extremely difficult out-and-back route, spanning a distance of 12.437 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1108 meters. The total duration of the hike is approximately 5 hours and 38 minutes.

Starting at the trailhead, you will first come across a parking area, followed by Haus der Konstanzer Jäger, a restaurant located just 13.47 meters away from the trail. As you continue on, you will pass by Speichersee Wasserkraftwerk "Auele" at around 1.93 kilometers from the start, providing a scenic view of the surrounding area.

At about 4.67 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter a natural water feature, and midway through the trail at 6.22 kilometers, you will reach the peak known as Knappenkopf, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings. Further along the trail, at 5.71 kilometers from the start, you will reach Kirchdachsattel, a saddle point along the route.

Throughout the hike, you will also come across various informational points and shrines providing insights into the local history and landmarks. It is advised to bring an ample water supply, especially on this challenging and long hike.
