Welcome to the Karangahake hiking route!

As you start your journey, you will come across the Karangahake Reserve Car Park, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the trail. Just a short distance away, at the beginning of the hike, you will find the Talisman Cafe, a great spot to grab a coffee and some sustenance before heading out.

As you make your way along the trail, you will pass by the Talisman Battery and Woodstock Battery, two historic attractions that provide a fascinating glimpse into the area's past. Further along, at about 3.48 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Karangahake peak, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

While some points of interest may require a short detour from the main trail, they are definitely worth exploring. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before setting out. The entire hike is an out-and-back route, so you will retrace your steps on the way back.
