Welcome to the Crown Track hike in Karangahake Gorge! This 2.245-kilometer circular route offers an easy hiking experience with a total elevation gain of 109 meters, making it suitable for hikers of all levels.
Starting at the Karangahake Reserve Car Park, you will begin your journey through the lush surroundings of the gorge. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across various points of interest.
At the beginning of the hike, you will find a convenient parking area to leave your vehicle before setting off on the trail. As you continue, you'll pass by the Talisman Cafe, where you can stop for a refreshing break and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Further along the trail, you will encounter the Talisman Battery and Woodstock Battery, both historical attractions that offer a glimpse into the area's mining past. Windows Walk, a scenic trail with picturesque views, is located midway through the hike and provides a perfect spot to take in the surrounding natural beauty.
As you approach the end of the trail, you will reach the Crown Stope, a fascinating geological feature that is worth exploring. From there, you will make your way back to the starting point, passing by the viewpoint and water source along the route.
