This extremely difficult 30.4 km out-and-back hiking route will take you to the breathtaking Schafbergspitze - Cima delle Pecore in a remote area with stunning natural beauty. The trail starts at a parking area and quickly immerses you in the peaceful surroundings.
Along the way, you will come across several points of interest. Approximately 9.7 km from the start, you will find the Obere Laaser Alm, a cozy restaurant where you can take a break and enjoy some local cuisine. As you continue, at around 8.9 km, there is a bench for you to rest and take in the scenic views.
Further ahead, at approximately 15.2 km into the hike, you will reach the Schafbergspitze - Cima delle Pecore, a majestic peak that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. This is the highlight of the hike and a great spot for photos and a well-deserved break.
As you make your way back, you will encounter more points of interest such as wayside crosses, information points, benches, and picnic sites scattered along the trail, offering opportunities to relax and enjoy the serenity of the area.
Given the length of the hike and the significant elevation gain of 2036 meters, this trail is recommended for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. It is also essential to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging journey.
