This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you through the beautiful Gorospil area, offering stunning views and a rich historical backdrop. The total distance of the hike is approximately 10.6 kilometers with an elevation gain of 251 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding adventure.
As you start your journey, you will come across the archaeological site of Goizamendi about 1.1 kilometers from the trailhead. This site provides a glimpse into the area's ancient past. Along the way, you will also encounter Mugarrien boundary stones, the peak of Gorospil, a spring named Gorospil, and the archaeological site of Menhir Gorospil.
Further along the trail, at around 4.9 kilometers from the start, you will reach the 76th boundary stone of Mugarrien and then the 75th stone shortly after. These historic markers add a unique element to the hike. Don't forget to take in the information points located at various spots, providing insight into the surrounding nature and history.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 4.8 kilometers from the start, you will pass by Muga Lepo, an interesting natural saddle in the landscape. As you continue your journey, you will also encounter Cromlech tumular Aizalegi and Cromlech tumular Ansestegi, offering a glimpse into ancient burial practices.
Towards the end of the route, you will come across Cromlech Goizamendi and Cromlech Larrakagaina, fascinating archaeological sites that add to the mystical allure of the area. Finally, you will reach the peak of Lizartzu before turning back towards the starting point.
