Welcome to the hiking route to Okoro peak. This challenging 8.28-kilometer out-and-back trail will take you through a diverse landscape with an elevation gain of 363 meters, offering stunning views and interesting points of interest along the way.
Starting your hike at Urkiaga, you'll pass by Zaguako etxola shelter just 1.95 kilometers from the trailhead. This is a great spot to take a rest and enjoy the surroundings. As you continue, you'll reach Cromlechs Otarra Bizkarra 1-3 at 2.62 kilometers from the start, offering a glimpse into the area's archaeological sites.
Around the midway point at approximately 3.3 kilometers, you'll encounter Artsalgo Gaina peak, providing a rewarding challenge and breathtaking panoramic views. Further ahead, at 4.14 kilometers, you'll reach the prominent Okoro peak, the highlight of the hike, offering a memorable photo opportunity and a sense of accomplishment.
During your return journey, make sure to stop by the informative Urkiaga point and GR11 information sign around the 0.01-kilometer mark. Additionally, take a moment to explore the scenic saddle points at Urkiagako lepoa and Otarrabizkarrako lepoa, offering a tranquil setting to appreciate the beauty of nature.
