This challenging circular hiking route takes you to the stunning Tête de l'Herbette in the picturesque area. The total distance of the hike is 9.762 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1133 meters, so be prepared for a strenuous journey that will take approximately 5 hours and 5 minutes to complete.
As you begin your adventure, you will find a convenient parking area right at the start of the trail. Make sure to pack plenty of water and snacks for the journey ahead. About 700 meters into the hike, you will come across the beautiful Lac de Coudré, a perfect spot to take a breather and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Continuing on, at around 3.24 kilometers into the hike, you will reach an information point where you can learn more about the area. As you progress further, you will pass by the Cabane Bounavaux alpine hut, a great place to rest and refuel before tackling the next section of the trail.
At 4.17 kilometers, you will reach the highlight of the hike, the Tête de l'Herbette peak. The views from here are absolutely breathtaking and well worth the effort it took to get there. Be sure to take some time to soak in the beauty of the surroundings.
On your way back, around 3.24 kilometers from the end of the hike, you will encounter the Col de Bounavalette, a scenic saddle point that offers panoramic views of the area.
