This hike will take you through the stunning area surrounding Stark Mountain. The route is an out-and-back trail with a total distance of 8.424 kilometers and an elevation gain of 343 meters, making it a difficult hike that is perfect for those looking for a challenging adventure.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Appalachian Gap, located just 0.01 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. This natural saddle offers a unique landscape to admire as you begin your ascent towards Stark Mountain.
About 2.32 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Theron Dean Shelter, a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Continuing on, at 1.94 kilometers from the start, you will find the Sunnyside Warming Hut, offering a cozy rest stop along the way.
Midway through the hike, at 3.33 kilometers from the start, you will encounter another peak, providing panoramic views of the area. Additionally, at the same distance from the start, there is a viewpoint at 2.32 kilometers offering a picturesque vista of the surrounding landscape.
Towards the end of the trail, approximately 4.21 kilometers from the start, you will reach the summit of Stark Mountain, where you can enjoy the breathtaking views before heading back the way you came.
