Located in a picturesque alpine region, this hiking route is an extremely challenging out-and-back trail that leads to the Kemptner Hütte. Spanning a distance of 12.289 kilometers and with an elevation gain of 946 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart.
Starting from the parking area at the trailhead, hikers will begin their journey through the lush surroundings, passing by the historic wayside shrine of Maria am Knie at 3.47 kilometers into the hike. As you trek further along the trail, you will come across benches for a quick rest and viewpoints to take in the stunning scenery of the area.
Around the 6.14 kilometer mark, you will reach the Kemptner Hütte, an alpine hut offering accommodations for weary hikers. You can refuel at Alpe Oberau, a nearby restaurant, before making your way back along the same trail.
