This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Grand Charnier area. The trail spans a total distance of 11.534 kilometers with an elevation gain of 921 meters, making it a difficult yet rewarding trek.
Starting at the trailhead, you will come across a convenient parking area right at the beginning of the route. As you continue, about 1.08 kilometers in, you will reach the picturesque Lac du Collet, offering a perfect spot to take in the beautiful scenery.
Around 2.6 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Refuge de la Pierre du Carre, a wilderness hut where you can rest and enjoy the surroundings. For sustenance, Gourmandize and Le Very are nearby at 0.12 kilometers into the hike, offering options for a quick bite.
Midway through the trail at 5.77 kilometers, you will reach the peak of Grand Charnier, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the area. Further along, at 4.15 kilometers, you can explore the peak of Petit Charnier and at 4.68 kilometers, the Col du Gollet will be a welcome sight.
