Welcome to the Moosensteig hiking route! This challenging circular trail covers a distance of approximately 10.9 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1115 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek for hikers seeking a bit of a challenge.

The trail starts at the parking area near Saalachsee, a beautiful water body located just 0.05 kilometers from the start. As you begin your ascent, you'll come across the Predigtstuhlschacht cave entrance around the 4.89 kilometer mark, adding an intriguing element to your hike.

Around the midway point, at approximately 5.04 kilometers from the start, you'll find Berghotel Predigtstuhl, a wheelchair-accessible restaurant where you can take a break and refuel with some delicious sustenance.

Throughout the hike, you'll encounter several viewpoints offering stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. One such viewpoint is located at 5.06 kilometers from the start, while another is situated at 5.13 kilometers, providing a perfect opportunity to take in the beauty of the area.

For the more adventurous hikers, there is an opportunity to visit Brandkopf, a peak with climbing opportunities, located 2.3 kilometers from the start. Additionally, Predigtstuhl, another peak, can be found around the 5.1 kilometer mark, offering panoramic views of the region.

As you make your way back to the starting point, be sure to take advantage of the benches scattered along the trail, such as the one located at 2.43 kilometers from the start, to rest and soak in the serene surroundings.
