This challenging 8.9-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the stunning surroundings of Pfaffenkegel. Starting from the Hinterbrand parking area, the trail leads you to various points of interest along the way.
At the beginning of the hike, you will pass by the Mitterkaseralm restaurant, where you can sample some local cuisine before starting your adventure. As you continue on the trail, you will come across the impressive Pfaffenkegel peak, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Approximately 0.73 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a beautiful waterfall, perfect for a refreshing break. Along the trail, there are several information points where you can learn more about the area's history and wildlife.
Midway through the hike, you will find a boundary stone named K IV 70, adding a touch of historical significance to your journey. As you approach the 4.22-kilometer mark, keep an eye out for another boundary stone, named 134/11, and a wayside cross located 2.45 kilometers from the start.
The trail offers a total elevation gain of 1012 meters, making it a difficult hike that requires a good level of fitness. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen, as the route will take approximately 4 hours and 35 minutes to complete.
