This extremely difficult hiking route, known as cai 311, spans a distance of 13.421 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1033 meters. The total duration of the hike is approximately 5 hours and 41 minutes.
The trail begins in a picturesque area near Castello Giusso, a historic castle located just 0.1 kilometers from the starting point. As you embark on your journey, you'll pass by a monumental fountain named Fontana monumentale and a war memorial called Monumento ai Caduti, both situated within the first kilometer of the trail.
Around the 4-kilometer mark, you'll encounter various points of interest such as Grotta Zi Carluccio, a cave entrance, and La Loggia, a scenic viewpoint offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, there are informational signboards scattered along the trail providing insights into the local flora and fauna.
Halfway through the hike, at approximately 6.71 kilometers from the start, you'll come across a water source and an alpine hut, Rifugio Panormo, where you can take a well-deserved rest and refuel before continuing your journey.
Towards the end of the trail, at around the 6-kilometer mark, you'll encounter Grava del Casone Vecchio, another cave entrance showcasing the natural beauty of the area. Finally, as you make your way back, don't forget to stop by the picnic site nestled 4.27 kilometers from the start for a relaxing break amidst nature.
