This extremely difficult hiking route will take you through the stunning area of Añelarra. The trail covers a distance of 12.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 659 meters, so be prepared for a challenging adventure.
As you begin your hike, you will come across the historic boundary stone, Borne 271, located 5.89 kilometers from the start of the trail. Further along the path, at 1.13 kilometers in, you will encounter the beautiful Lago del Contienda, providing a serene spot to rest and take in the surroundings.
Along the way, you will also pass by several informational points such as La Contienda Azul, La Contienda Negra - Azul - Verde, and Roncalia - La Contienda, offering insights into the area's history and landmarks.
At the midway point of the hike, you will reach the peak of Añelarra, offering panoramic views of the landscape below. The peak is located 6.25 kilometers from the start of the trail, making it a rewarding spot to reach.
As you make your way back along the trail, be sure to also check out Añelarra Occidental, another peak worth exploring, located 5.89 kilometers from the start.
It is important to note that this hike is extremely difficult due to its length and elevation gain, so be sure to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
