This extremely difficult hiking route will take you on an out-and-back journey to the Pico Culfreda Central peak. The trail spans a distance of 16.272 kilometers and features an elevation gain of 1495 meters, promising a challenging yet rewarding adventure.
Starting your hike, you'll come across the Aire de Bivouac de l'Hospice du Rioumajou campsite and the Hospice du Rioumajou alpine hut, where you can rest and refuel before continuing on. As you make your way towards the peak, you'll encounter several other points of interest, including Punta Cabalera and Punta Culfreda Norte peaks. The trail also passes by stunning natural landmarks like Punta Culfreda and offers a glimpse of the Fontaine ferrugineuse spring.
For a brief respite, you can stop by the Puerto de la Madera and Port de Cauarère saddles along the trail. Additionally, there are facilities such as shelters and restaurants available at the Hospice du Rioumajou for your convenience.
Given the length and elevation gain of the hike, it is essential to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
