This extremely difficult 14.355-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will lead you to the stunning Kreuzspitz peak. The trail starts at a convenient parking area near the Waldcafe restaurant, where you can grab a bite before embarking on your journey. As you make your way along the path, you'll pass by the picturesque Falbesoner Ochsenalm about 2.45 kilometers from the start, offering a great spot to rest and enjoy the views.
Around 4.23 kilometers from the beginning, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Falbesoner Fall viewpoint, providing a breathtaking perspective of the surroundings. Further along the trail, at approximately 4.65 kilometers, you'll encounter the Neue Regensburger Hütte alpine hut, where you can take a break or even spend the night if you're feeling adventurous.
As you continue your ascent, you'll pass by a beautiful "Badesee" lake, located off the trail at the same distance point as the hut. Be sure to bring enough water with you, as this trail features a significant elevation gain of 1806 meters, making it a challenging hike. Additionally, make sure to check the weather forecast before heading out, as conditions can change rapidly in mountainous areas.
At the halfway point of 7.18 kilometers, you'll reach the Kreuzspitz peak, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. If you're up for more adventure, you can also explore the nearby Östliche Knotenspitze peak, located off the trail at the same distance point as the Kreuzspitz.
Throughout the hike, you'll come across informative signs and markers providing details about the area's flora, fauna, and geology. These points of interest offer a deeper understanding of the region's natural beauty. Remember to stay on the designated trail to preserve the environment and respect the wildlife.
After a full day of challenging hiking, you'll make your way back along the same path, allowing you to retrace your steps and soak in the magnificent scenery once more.
