This challenging hiking route will take you to the stunning Monte Ortara area. The trail spans a total distance of 11.475 kilometers with an elevation gain of 252.0 meters, making it a difficult trek that will take approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will pass by the picturesque Piazzale Monti Ernici at the beginning of the trail. This is a great spot to park your vehicle before embarking on your hike. Along the way, you will come across the Jubero Ortara water source, which is located around the 4.99-kilometer mark. Be sure to replenish your water supply here. Further into the hike, at the 3.69-kilometer mark, you'll encounter the Fontanella di Campovano spring, a refreshing natural water source.
Continuing on, you will find yourself passing near several peaks, including Monte Pozzotello, Peschio della Cornacchia, and Cima del Diavolo. These breathtaking viewpoints offer panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape, rewarding you for your efforts.
At around the midpoint of the hike, you'll reach the Sella del Pozzotello saddle, a perfect spot to take a break and soak in the majestic scenery. As you journey back, you can refuel at the cafe and restaurant conveniently located at the trailhead. Additionally, there is a shelter named Vermicano where you can rest and recharge before continuing your trek.
