This challenging 11.694-kilometer hike takes you through the picturesque area surrounding Großes Degenhorn. The trail begins at a parking area and soon after, you will come across the beautiful Degenhornsee lake, located 4.41 kilometers from the start. As you continue on the path, you will encounter another water feature, 3.71 kilometers in, followed by the impressive Großes Degenhorn peak at 5.32 kilometers.
For a different perspective, you can take a slight detour to the Kleines Degenhorn peak, located 4.78 kilometers from the start. Along the way, you will also find Ochsenlenke saddle at 4.17 kilometers, along with information points at Ochsenlencke and Schrentenbachboden.
While the waterfall at 2.67 kilometers and Volkzeiner Hütte alpine hut at 0.16 kilometers are slightly off the main trail, they are worth the visit if you have the time and energy.
This circular route offers stunning viewpoints at 1.87 kilometers, allowing you to take in the breathtaking surroundings. The hike has an elevation gain of 1052 meters, making it quite challenging and suitable for experienced hikers.
