This extremely difficult 12.078-kilometer circular hike at Sonnwendjoch offers breathtaking views and a challenging terrain for experienced hikers. The route starts at the Bayreuterhütte parking area and takes about 5 hours and 59 minutes to complete.

As you begin your journey, you will pass by the Herrgottstein wayside shrine around 0.85 kilometers into the hike. Further along the trail at 1.08 kilometers, you will find an information point providing insight into the area's history.

Midway through the hike, at approximately 3.41 kilometers, you will come across the Pletzachkogel peak, offering stunning panoramic views. As you continue, you will encounter the wayside shrine of the wayside shrine 1.53 kilometers into the hike.

At around 5.96 kilometers, you will reach the Sonnwendjochhaus alpine hut, a perfect spot to rest and refuel while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. Don't miss the peak viewpoint at 5.97 kilometers for a memorable photo opportunity.

Throughout the hike, be prepared for steep inclines and rugged terrain due to the 1275.0 meters of elevation gain. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear. It is also recommended to check the weather forecast before setting out on this challenging adventure.
