Welcome to the Passportensteig hiking route! This beautiful trail offers stunning views and a moderate level of difficulty, making it perfect for hikers of all skill levels.
The hike covers a distance of 4.739 kilometers with an elevation gain of 117 meters, taking approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes to complete. The route is an out-and-back type, meaning you will retrace your steps on the way back.
Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by several points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find parking facilities for your convenience. Further along, about 0.08 kilometers from the start, you will come across the Rifugio Auronzo, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy some refreshments.
As you continue on, at around 1.71 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Rifugio Lavaredo, a restaurant and alpine hut with limited wheelchair access. This is a great spot to refuel and rest before continuing your journey.
Around 2.25 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Paternsattel - Forcella Lavaredo, a natural saddle that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Nearby, you will also find information points such as Forcella Lavaredo and other viewpoints to take in the scenery.
